One Pearl Bank was previously called Pearl Bank Apartment was one of the most iconic buildings in Singapore built in the early 70s. It was initially discussed to promote both conservation and redevelopment, but the dialogue failed, fall short of 100% consensus as per URA requirement.
It was finally put up for en-bloc with some hope on preservation in architecture. It was sold to CapitaLand in February 2019 for S$728 million, translating to S$1,515 per square foot per plot ratio. In the spirit of contributing to the study of Singapore’s urban development, CapitaLand took 3 months to document Pearl Bank Apartment digitally and convert data into 3-D models. It was submitted to URA for the public archive.
While preservation was not feasible, CapitaLand is committed to retaining its innovative spirit.
